My boyfriend had been watching AGDQ videos (Awesome Games Done Quick), and I was super inspired by video games! immediately I had the image of a diamond or something floating above the character's head-which you can see marked in pencel still. But ultimately I had her coming OUT of the diamond, and I still had images of movement and direction in my head. That's somehow where the fish and birds came in, to depict a movement toward a certain end goal. Definitely video-game inspired.
