ABOUT AIMEE

MY STORY

I was born and raised as an artist and entertainer. I began dancing at the age of two, and was a competative dancer throughout high school. I coached and choreographed my high school dance and cheer teams. After high school I went to Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY, and studied communications, but I was really there for the access to the arts. I would ride into the city a few times a week to take dance classes or go on modeling gigs. After that year, though, I was still feeling lost with my education. I moved back to western MA, and went to UMass, Amherst, to take a step back and focus on a normal education. But I had to withdrawal halfway through the year on a medical leave. While on my sabatical, I decided to randomly take a drawing class. One of my assignments was to fill up a sketchbook, which I did, plus an additional several more! From there I never stopped. My life as an artist had begun.
I moved to Boston at age 20 and was working as a barista while still persuing art. I had my first displays there, as well as a couple small publications in local magazines.
I moved to Arizona two years after coming to Boston. I continued practicing my craft, and began doing local art shows and events, and painting live at events on stage. I was scouted by an amazing gallery at one of these events, and started showing there. From there I just kept shopping galleries in the area and entering competitions online. I made connections throught events, shows, gallery visits, and through social networking.
I am a self-taught artist and I specify in figurative oil painting. I credit my dance history for my interest in expression through form. In addition to painting I also love to draw and have been dabbling in sculpture. I love fashion and design and seeing beauty in everything I see.
